Lavry Engineering Inc. is proud to announce the latest addition
to its product line, the stereo LavryBlack AD10 A/D converter. Ideal
for a wide range of recording and broadcast applications, the LavryBlack
AD10 builds on founder Dan Lavry's reputation for extreme transparency
with a number of innovative new features for highest-quality sound,
flexibility and ease of use.
LavryBlack AD10 sees the introduction of Lavry Engineering's unique
Digital Alias-Free Emulation™ modes. With this exclusive system,
in addition to Clear mode users can select the input characteristic
of Tube, Transformer or both (Complex). "The AD10 marks the first
time that a Lavry Engineering unit has offered this type of option," explains
Dan Lavry, President of Lavry Engineering. "With AD10, very high
accuracy and transparency remain the starting point. However, the engineer
can also alter the original signal if they choose."
In addition to a myriad of functions, the LavryBlack AD10 is accessible
via user-friendly interface controlled by a single toggle switch. This
switch utilizes multiple displays for heightened efficiency within
the compact ½ RU enclosure. Other highlights of the LavryBlack
AD10 include:
" Internal Crystal 44.1, 48, 88.2, & 96 kHz
sampling rates
" Ultra-stable internal and external clocking
" Greater than 117dB Dynamic Range (unweighted), 120dB (weighted)
" Less than .0009% THD+N (20HZ-20kHz)
" External Word Clock or AES sync for 32-100kHz operation
" 24 bit AES/SPDIF and optical outputs
" XLR professional level analog inputs (+4dBu)
" ¼" instrument line level analog inputs (-10dBV)
" Accepts balanced or unbalanced analog signals
" 14 segment digital meters w/Peak Hold
" Meter displayed gain setting from 0 to 13 dB (1dB steps)
Introduction of AD10 extends Lavry's Black Series which began with
the highly popular DA10. This stereo D/A converter set new standards
in performance and quality at a cost-effective price point.

Lavry DA10

Lavry Engineering introduces DA10, a new stand alone stereo digital
to analog converter. The half rack unit can receive AES or SPDIF digital
audio on XLR, RCA and optical link.
The DA provides three Clock modes. The preferred modes are Crystal
and Narrow, but the unit also offers a Wide mode based
on an internal Sample rate conversion for listening at non standard
sampling rates.
The level of the analog outputs (balanced or unbalanced) is controlled
by an up–down switch and a 2 digit display. The “potentiometer
free” discrete analog attenuator provides up to 56dB very high
precision volume control in 1 dB steps.
A state of the art discrete headphone driver is capable of accommodating
at ease even the lowest impedance headphones. The unit includes
a polarity switch, and a Stereo-Mono switch, a feature aimed at mastering
studios.

LavryBlue
Stereo AD
& DA Converters

This system may be ordered in several
configurations ranging from 2 to 8 channels of A/D, D/A or a combination
of both in each 1U 19 inch rack mountable chassis. Stereo Microphone
preamplifiers are also available, and are “double-width” modules
for up to 4 channels of MicPre per 4496 frame. Another advantage is
that the LavryBlue 4496 can initially be purchased in a “minimal” configuration
and then later upgraded to add more channels or different functions,
as the user’s needs change.
Multi Channel
AD & DA Converters
8 Channel AD Converter:

The LavryBlue M?AD824 AD converter
features:
- 2 channels of sonically transparent Lavry A-to-D conversion
- M?SYNC master clock module controls all AD modules in a 4496 frame for “phase
accurate” multi channel recording.
- Ultra-stable internal crystal operation at 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHz
- Narrow external lock for ultra-stable operation at 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHz
-Wide lock mode for non-standard sample rates or vari-speed operation
- 24 bit, 16 bit and 16 bit plus dither and αcoustic βit Correction® noise
shaping.
- Analog and Digital Saturation modes allow hotter recording levels
- Digital level metering with “clipping” indicators and peak hold
- Reference mode for calibration to studio standard levels
-SPDIF compatible AES/XLR digital output
8 Channel DA Converter:

The LavryBlue M?DA824 DA converter features:
- 2 channels of sonically transparent Lavry D-to-A conversion
- CrystalLock™ mode eliminates the effects of source jitter
on conversion
- CrystalLock™ and Narrow modes operate at 44.1, 48, 88.2,
and 96 kHz
- Wide mode accommodates non-standard sample rates and vari-speed
- Clocking from AES/SPDIF input allows different stereo modules in
the same 4496 frame to operate asynchronously at different sample rates,
and requires no user settings when changing sample rates. For example:
monitor 44.1 kHz CD and 96 kHz DAW output simultaneously with one 4496
rack and two DA modules.
- Constant conversion delay assures phase accuracy in multi channel
operation

* LavryBlue-MicPre
* Condenser, Dynamic, and Ribbon Settings all on one module.
* Module for easy installation into LavryBlue Chassis
* Digital Precision Gain Setting + Stored Memory
* 21-70dB Gain in 1dB Steps
Designed for clean, transparent high end performance
at $968 USD, the stereo modules fit in a LavryBlue chassis which
can accommodate 2 or 4 channels of mic pre’s. The typical
2X2 configuration (2A2D) can be expanded to include 2MicPre. If
you already own a LavryBlue chassis this module takes 2 spaces.
Plug and Play with the installation kit.
The MicPre provides state of the art noise performance that
accommodates even the weakest microphone signals , and a wide
input range for the strongest mic signals. Ultra-low distortions
across the complete audio frequency band insure maximum signal
transparency at all gain settings.
The unit is designed to yield a superior dynamic range even
for high source resistance microphones. The transformer free
input provides pure and transparent bass, yet it features state
of the art in common mode rejection (for elimination of hum and
interference pickup) exceeding transformer based units. Phantom
power per channel is ultra- low noise double shunt regulated
for minimum noise and channel separation.
Each channel accommodates up to 21-70dB of gain in 1dB steps.
The precision gain setting is solid and reliable (not based on
the use of archaic rotary switch technology). Included is a 10dB
pad for lower voltage analog interfaces. Activating the pad yields
11-60dB gain.
Outside, the no-nonsense controls are extremely user-friendly.
Each channel is equipped with a 2-digit gain setting display
and up/down switch. The last gain settings are stored and will
reappear at next use. A Gain Pad switch (per stereo pair) changes
the gain range from 21-70dB to 11-60dB, for higher level inputs.
Each stereo pair has a microphone selection switch
(Condenser, Dynamic or Ribbon), for microphone load optimization.
Setting to “condenser” activates the phantom power.
Internal jumpers allow change from balanced to unbalanced outputs,
and for disabling of the phantom for powered vintage mics.
