Yardstick 2402 is a high-quality, digital sound device based on the original QRS algorithm from 1982.  Due to its unobtrusive, natural character and its superb room simulation, the original QRS has become a lot more than just a popular means of production in pop usic.  In the fields of classical music production, chamber music, as well as in movie postproduction, the QRS is considered to be the yardstick for all products of the competition.  In other words, whenever a natural sounding ambience is desired and any kind of artificial echo is not. 

Until now, it was not possible to adapt the extensive QRS-algorithm to one of the commercially available signal processing chips.  So far, all Quantec room simulators were based on dedicated hardware.  However, in recent years there has been an abundance of signal processing chips.  Within the last five years, the capability of these chips has tripled, simply due to proggress in the manufacturing technology. 

In order to reduce the signal-processing capability required, the QRS-algorithm has been carefully streamlined for Yardstick.  In particular, the original parameter Room Size has been dropped.  Due to the compromises gained, it is now possible for the first time with Yardstick to use a commercial signal processor for the QRS-algorithm.  This level of technology offers the opportunity to offer a genuine Quantec at a very low price, compared to what you have been told about Quantec prices.
